EnviroMoist™ Polymer Watering Guide

Your water and lawn management will determine how much benefit you will receive from EnviroMoist™

There are four areas of management to consider:

Water – Amount & Frequency
Lawn Nutrition – Type & Frequency
Mowing – Frequency & Length
Weed Control – Type

Watering :

Visualize your lawn as a giant pan 6” deep. The first week after EnviroMoist has been applied, water heavy enough to fill the pan. You may have to water several hours to fill the pan completely. You will need to use a shovel, soil probe, or another tool to visually be sure you pan is full. The pan is full when the soil is wet 6” deep. DO NOT GUESS! You cannot tell by looking at the surface of your lawn, you must see the soil. Once the pan is full, stop watering for three days. When you do water on the third day, WATER ENOUGH TO REFILL THE PAN. The amount of time need to refill your pan will vary with many factors. Once again, determine your time and amount of watering by making sure you completely REFILL THE PAN, EVERYTIME YOU WATER. The polymer is design to help lengthen watering intervals. Continue this process, waiting two weeks before lengthening the time between watering intervals. The idea is to increase the time between watering intervals as far as possible without your lawn showing any signs of stress. It will take some effort on you part to find the perfect balance for you lawn. Not only will you conserve water, your lawn will be healthier too.

Lawn Nutrition :

Avoid salt-based Nitrogen fertilizer programs. They act like a “sugar high” for the lawn, giving a quick green up, fast growth, and subsequent die off. In addition most lawns seem to require more and more fertilizer each year. The use of EnviroGreen provides your lawn a balanced nutritional program. By using this environmentally friendly process, your grass stays beautiful and green. EnviroGreen helps to extend the functional life of the polymer with in your soil. Your EnviroMoist dealer can help you plan a long-term nutrition program that is right for your lawn.

Mowing :

During the hot summer months of the year, you should set your lawn mower height at 2 ½ - 3”. As cool weather approaches, it is a good idea to lower you mower settings a little each time you mow until the final mowing of the fall season at 1-½ inches. In the spring, start with your mower settings at 1-½”, gradually increase the mowing height until the settings are at 2 ½ - 3”. When you use the EnviroGreen lawn nutrition program, you will find you have less grass to mow, than when you were using salt-based Nitrogen fertilizers. You should always mulch the grass, unless there are excess clippings (there may be excess clippings until your lawn uses the left over Nitrogen).

Weeds :

As your lawn becomes healthier, you will find less and less weeds. Weeds need a weak spot in the sod in order to grow. The EnviroGreen lawn nutrition program thickens your lawn, making it very difficult for weeds to grow.

NOTE: If you are still having difficulties with you lawn after following the above procedure, you may be experiencing problems related to a damaged/inadequate sprinkling system. Utah Lawn would be happy to provide a bid, to assist you in correcting sprinkler system problems.
